Visit with the Relatives - Part 5

The car trip home took 11.25 hours, including stops. Maddie's wondering why we're not getting her out of her car seat faster.

Visit with the Relatives - Part 3

This blog entry is subtitled "Maddie Meets Rybolt." Rybolt is Maddie's cousin who is 8 months old (he's Baikal's little brother). We thought we would introduce the babies while Rybolt was somewhat looked down in his chair. As you can see in the first photo, Maddie has her hands in a fist in case she needs to fight him off. In the second picture, Maddie's saying, "I'm not so sure about this." In the third picture, Maddie's thinking, "Okay, this kid's not so bad." What we don't have is the fourth picture right after this one where, right after Maddie let her guard down, Rybolt turned around and tried to claw Maddie's face. I'm sure it was just his way of saying hi. Luckily, Nana has quick reflexes and pulled Maddie away before Rybolt could make contact. Next time Maddie sees Rybolt, she's going to have her fists ready to defend herself. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.

Visit with the Relatives - Part 2

Here are Maddie and Will resting at Great Granddad and Great Grandmother Garvin's house.

Maddie contemplating the day with Daddy. Some day she'll probably be embarrassed by this photo.

Here is Nana with cousin Baikal (she's 2 1/2), who looks like she's plotting something.

Visit with the Relatives - Part 1

Maddie took her first car trip the first week of August. We went down to Charleston, SC so that Maddie could meet her great grandparents. The trip normally takes between 8 and 9 hours. With a newborn, though, it takes longer. It took us 11 hours. Maddie did great, though. She cried only once and that's because Will and I waited too long between one of her feedings. This first picture is Maddie with her cousin Willa (Willa is the daughter of Will's first cousin, Rami).

Here is Rami and her youngest, Eva. Eva was born exactly four weeks after Maddie.

Here is Granddad and Grandmother Garvin with both Maddie and Eva.

Here's Maddie taking a nap on Granddad Garvin's lap. They both look like they're enjoying it.
